August 10, 1944 – July 16, 2024
Don is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Jean, daughters Kim (Warren) and Connie. Sisters Gloria Harvie, Chris Madison, and Sue (Cliff) Forsythe. Sisters-in-law Helen Rose, Joyce Chevrier, brother-in-law Alvin Goodson and his Aunt Jane Koval and family.
Muggle Pa cherished spending time with his grandchildren Meagan-muggle kid (Harri), Amy–magoo (Jeff), and grandson Brandon Rutkowski-bud. Dad enjoyed becoming a great-grandfather to Kinlen, Dalton (Cho), and Raena who were his rays of sunshine on some gloomy days.
Don was predeceased by his parents Margaret and David Innard, in-laws Jenny and Michael Kozak, Uncle George Koval, brothers-in-law Albert Chevrier, Glen Madison, Darwin Harvie, Abby Rose and nephews Devon Forsythe, David Harvie and Wes Rose.
Don spent 36 years working at the paper mill and when he wasn’t working you could find him camping, fishing, sledding, hunting, reading or watching hockey.
Don collected many things, mom would say too many things, from vinyl records, stamps, coins, electronics, movies, books, and he sure loved those Montreal Canadiens.
Mom would like to thank her niece Suzanne Todd (Bob) for ensuring mom and dad were able to enjoy some time camping last summer. Thanks to our neighbours John and Helen Belair and Carla Byington for holding down the fort at home.
The family will be eternally grateful to the nurses at Lake of the Woods District Hospital and the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre Oncology ward who showed dad so much care and compassion during his stay.
Immediate cremation has taken place as dad chose not to have a service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, please feel free to make a donation to It’s a Dog’s Life or the Tamarac House in Thunder Bay.
