With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our brother, uncle, shoomis, cousin, furrdad and friend.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, David and Mary Keesic, paternal grandparents James and Ida Bunting, parents Norman Bunting and Frances Kejick, Gwiimah Stephen Kejick, uncles George B, John B, Gordon B, Clifford K, Henry K, aunts Mary K, Barbara K, Matilda M, Margaret L, Sarah K, Donna K, Mary B and friends Jeff Hunter, Travis Redsky, Kirk M. and Dexter Greene.
He leaves behind his sisters Bub (Amos), Karen and Elaine (Jaret). Uncle James Bunting, nieces Braeden, Kennide and Sable, nephews Theoren, Malik (Alliah), Bryce, Daylon, Dwaine, Amos Jr. and Jalaynee, grandchildren Creedence, Giiwedin, Lakeyn, Miinan and Boston, cousin/friends Lorne, Thunder, Manny, Brandon, Alex Jr. and Ivan. Beloved pet Snarf. Maternal relatives Bert (Eleanor), Garnet, Darlene, Dudley, Marilyn (Delbert), Marilyn C (Bob Sr.), Kathleen (Gus) and Alex Sr., Paternal Relatives Rocky Sr. (Gretchen), Darlene, Harvey, Jenn (Mike), Elaine, Adrian, David (Cheyenne), Ronnie, Mary, Ramona, Valene, Candi, Joni, Jeonni, Jazanne, John Jr., Nadine (John), Bando and many other relatives and friends. After a lengthy period of illness, David has begun his journey.
Dave was one of the most supportive individuals to walk the Aki in a good way. He was a beloved son to his parents, filial brother to his sisters. He kept his Anishinaabe way of life. Knowledge holder of our Anishinaabemowin.
He was an avid fisherman; Dave was always ready for a day out fishing on the lake. Prior to his Cancer diagnosis, Dave enjoyed participating in local fishing tournaments, hunting and being outdoors.
Going for cruises, trying out new foods and visiting the Casino.
Dave’s sisters would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the students and staff at the David Kejick School, and Bimose Tribal Council Anishinaabemowin Program Coordinator Pat Copenace.
Dave’s medical help from Dr. Dooley, his renal team in Health Science Centre for their years of care

A wake service will begin on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 3:00pm at David Kejick School Gymnasium. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 10:00am at David Kejick School Gymnasium.
