Hello Joan & Family
Today I received a notice from the funeral home acknowledging that it has been a year since Charlie’s passing.  I had hoped to hear from some of my contacts about the Spring get together in honour of Charlie but did not hear further. 
In any event over the years we were both in the Insurance Industry, Charlie was always one of my favourite calls. An absolute gentleman and a true professional. I was saddened of course when I heard the news. 
Wanted you to know today that I continue to have you in my thoughts and prayers and will always hold the memories of Charlie close to my heart.

My name is Ken Mitchell and over the years I had the pleasure of working with Charlie at Sutcliffe’s. I was on the Company side of the business and it was always a pleasure to visit with Charlie to discuss business and always talk about our family lives. 
Charlie was a consummate professional that always believed in honesty and integrity. His knowledge of the business and his fierce actions to provide his clients with the very best coverage was always front and centre. 
It was my pleasure to have known and worked with Charlie and become a friend.

Deepest sympathies to family and friends of Charlie. He was a person who was for so many decades of pillar of the community. His ideas and support were behind so many projects that have shaped Kenora. We can be thankful for the legacy of this community leader among us. Rest in Peace dear Charlie.

Such a wonderful man, we have many fond memories from the days at Kinvalley School & Special Olympics. Michael loved Charlie & always enjoyed seeing him.

My condolences to Joan and the entire Strachan family.  I remember Charlie as friendly, kind, and a true gentleman.  He was a partner with my dad (Ches Scott) for many years at Sutcliffe's.

I want to pass on my sincere condolences to the Strachan family on the loss of Charlie.  I worked alongside Charlie for many years.  He was a very kind and gentle man.  He guided and mentored me during my insurance career and for that I will always be grateful.

My deepest condolences. The Zrum & Strachan families go back a long way, to  both arriving in Kenora & becoming neighbours and friends in the 60's. There are many great family memories from that time. Eventually, Charlie and I became partners at Sutcliffe's. He was always a great mentor and garnered respect from both partners and staff. There will always be a huge loss in your lives, but his memory will always live on.

Both Cathy and I are so saddened by Charlie's passing.  I look back to to the formation of Northwestern Ontario Crimes Stoppers throughout the District and the program was realized by someone of integrity, patience and just a wonderful calming presence.  Thanks Charlie for being there for us all.

Heartfelt condolences to Aunt Sophie and my cousins from Derrick, Karen, Olivia and Angelina.  I hope all the fond memories give you strength through.the sad times.
 I have many fond memories of my Uncle Chuck and spending time with all our families over holidays while we were still in Winnipeg, or visiting  in Kenora as a kid, and Lake of the Woods will always hold a special place in my heart ❤️ too !

It is so sad to hear of Charlie's passing.  I have truly enjoyed getting to know Charlie and Joan over the last 25 years and will miss seeing his smiling face whenever I visited them in Kenora.  He was a true gentleman with such a kind, caring and gentle nature.  To Joan, Stephen, Jeff and Carey, I am sure all the great memories you share will help ease the pain of your loss. So sorry to hear of Charlie’s passing. Both Charlie and Joan just did. If something was needed they simply made it happen most of the time without anyone knowing it was done. Truly an inspirational person💕

I was so saddened to learn of Charlie's passing. As a fellow Shriner and Masonic Brother, I had the honour of driving him to our last couple of dinner meetings.
He was an amazing community person and leaves a great legacy behind.
My sincere sympathies to Mrs Strachan, Jeff, Steve and respective family members.

Getting to know Charlie over the years in our building was such a pleasure.  I fondly remember   our Covid carol singing as you and he sang off your balcony.  We did the bon fire together at our beach too,..he was game for anything.  He attended concerts I was in, and ALWAYS took time to compliment me.  I can still picture him “ getting his exercise “ at the end of the day, walking the pathway.  And you two handling the blue boxes for the building because “it’s the least we can do, we want to do something.”!
