Mr. Robert J. Brown, age 78, of Acworth, passed away January 6, 2015. He was a native of Amsterdam, NY and was retired from Mohawk Industries with 39 years of service. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and a member of St. Catherine’s of Siena Catholic Church and was a Norte Dame Football and Los Angeles Dodgers Baseball fan.
Preceded in death by his parents, J. Kenneth and Mary Kelly Brown; son, Richard “Ricky” Brown and a brother, Edward Brown.
Survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan Brown; daughter, Mary Beth Gallagher and her husband, Scott; son, Scott Brown and his wife, Kimberly; sister, June Brown; brother, Don Brown and his wife, Mary Ann; 5 grandchildren, Caitlin Gallagher, Mackenzie Gallagher, Nate Brown, Kyle Brown, Macie Brown; nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday Jan. 8 at 10:30 AM at St. Catherine’s of Siena Catholic Church, 1618 Ben King Road, Kennesaw, GA, with Father John Matejek officiating. Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery on Friday Jan. 9 at 9 AM with the United States Air Force providing honors.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 9:30 and 10:30 AM on Thursday at St. Catherine’s. In lieu of flowers, those who desire, may make contributions to Special Olympics or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
