He attended North Fulton High School and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1953 with a Business Degree. In 1955 he purchased Allatoona Landing and Marina where he installed the first floating docks and operated a thriving business serving boating enthusiasts for decades. He was also a home builder known for his craftsmanship and attention to detail and built several personal homes as well as the Buckhead neighborhood Paran Valley. He married the love of his life, Shirley Tarvin in 1957 and together they raised 5 children.
Bobby is predeceased by his wife Shirley, parents Robert and Ida Barfield and sister Dorothy Brown. A loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by his five children: Robert L. Barfield Jr (Chip), Craig Barfield, Cameron Barfield, Meleah Diemer (Calvin), Tiffani King (Kraig), 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends who will miss him dearly.
Visitation is Wednesday November 27, 2019 from 12 noon until 2:30 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Parkway, Kennesaw, Ga. Services will be private.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Wellstar Community Hospice, Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain.
