Peggy left this earthly body and was transformed into her Heavenly body on Friday, June 19. Peggy was born in Brooklyn, NY to O.L. Duncan an Cornelia Coker Duncan. However, she called several cities her hometown! She spent most of her childhood Newport News, VA. After receiving her RN license, she moved to Tampa, FL. She later moved to South Carolina, living in Columbia, Florence and finally in Charleston on James Island. She was married to Jack Drake. She loved nursing and helping others. She later moved to Marietta, GA, to be closer to her family. Peggy's "child" was her little Yorkshire Terrier, Gizmo. He was always resting on her as she moved around in the wheelchair. Peggy was a strong Christian and loved Jesus. She was a member of the Burnt Hickory Baptist Church, Powder Springs, GA.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Drake, her birth father, O.L. Duncan, her mother Cornelia Duncan Perdue, her stepfather, Robert L. Perdue, her brother Herb Duncan. She is survived by her sister, Kay Van Curen of Kennesaw, GA, brother, Dudley Duncan (Jeannie) of Midlothian, VA, sister-in-law, Frances Duncan of Gloucester, VA, and a number of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her best friend, Twyla Kimball, Tampa, FL, who she considered another sister. Peggy loved people and had many lifelong friends.
A memorial service to honor Mrs. Peggy Duncan Drake will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service.
