Mike was born in Hannibal, MO on 07/15/1953. Growing up his passion was playing baseball. He received many awards and trophies. He received a baseball scholarship to the University of Kansas but left early to serve his country. Mike was a member of the US Navy from 1972-1975. After serving, he finished his college education from the University of Western Illinois earning a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Mike was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He took such pride in his family. Mike had a sincere compassion for all creatures, especially rescue dogs. He loved watching and feeding the birds in the backyard. He was an avid sports fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. Mike was a lover of all kinds of Music. He and Sue went to many concerts. He held a wealth of information on any concert, band, song or artist. Mike was a history buff and could recite details about many historical facts. He enjoyed watching documentaries and reading about people and history.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Arch Leonard Chaney and Doris Imogene (Tittsworth) Chaney, his dear sister Cheryl Rae (Chaney) Jones and his Niece Dori Smith. He is survived by his wife Sue Chaney, sister Gwynn Peters, brother Mark Chaney (wife Val). Daughter Emily (Bill) Plant, Devin, Zoe Ethan and Aiden. Son Greg (Charity) Chaney, Dylan (Courtney) Alex, Anessa (Dylan) Hertel. Son David Chaney, Emmett and Arch. Step Daughter Jessica Randall, Benjamin and James. Step Daughter Jody Lesher (Mike), Miles and Garrett. And many loving nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Mike would be honored that donations be made to Mostly Mutts Rescue, 3238 Cherokee Street NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
