Katherine (Katie) Odile McNally, age 22, passed away Tuesday July 9, 2013. Katie was born at Kennestone Hospital on May 22, 1991. She is a graduate of Sprayberry High School and a lifelong member of Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Katie was a recipient of a Canine Assistant service dog named Jazzy who was at her side for 13 years. Before losing her battle with her Mitochondrial Disease Katie loved her horseback riding, camping, fishing and any activity with family and friends.
She is survived by her father Harold (Harry) McNally and her younger sister and friend Erin Colleen McNally, both of Kennesaw.
Katie was predeceased by her Mother, Lisa McNally, May 20, 2008. Her beloved Grand Mother, Odile (McDonald) McNally, Grand Father, Gerald McNally, Aunt, Rita Nelson and Uncle, Bob Zielinski, all from Kawkawlin and Bay City, MI.
Also surviving Katie are her Aunt, Jeannette Zielinski, Uncle, Jim Nelson, Uncle, John and Aunt Diane McNally, Uncle, Chip and Aunt, Lillian Tacey, Uncle, Gerard and Aunt, Joyce McNally, along with dozens of Cousins, Great Aunts and Great Uncles all from Bay City, Essexville, Auburn and Kawkawlin, MI area.
Katie is also survived by her Grand Parents, Paul and Florence Nelson, Aunt, Lori Bradstreet, Aunt, Linda and Uncle Bob Apsey and her cousins all of Palm Bay, FL.
Included in those who Katie leaves behind are her special friends and caregivers, Kimmy Curtis, Kimberly Davis, and Savannah Nemeth. The special education teachers, para pros and drivers who loved her as much as she them.
Friends may call at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw Thursday July 11 from 3 until 9 PM.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 PM Friday July 12 at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church with Father John Matejek officiating.
Katie’s family would like to extend a special thanks to both the entire staff at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain Hospice for the loving care they gave her for the past three weeks. Along with Erin’s classmates/families from Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic School for their unfailing support.
