Dolly Jackson Pike of Kennesaw, GA passed away November 20, 2021. She was born June 11, 1936 in Malone, Alabama to Dura Bailey Jackson and Charles Homer Jackson. Dolly grew up in Wedowee, AL in a family of ten children and remained close to all her siblings over the years. A 1954 graduate of Handley High School in Roanoke, Alabama, Dolly was president of the 4H Club, member of the F.H.A and Student Council. She loved sports and was a very good athlete, playing basketball in high school and tennis and softball as an adult.
Dolly met her husband, Jasper “Sonny” Pike while she was in high school, married and later moved to Marietta, GA.
Dolly was married to Sonny for 67 years and raised their four sons in Kennesaw, GA. She was known for her independent spirit, resourcefulness and creativity. Their home was perfect for family events, her beloved horses, animals, beautiful garden and collection of antiques. In addition to her love of the outdoors, Dolly was also an avid reader, wonderful cook and creator of arts & crafts. She made beautiful quilts and pieces of art that will always be treasured by her children and grandchildren. She loved beach trips with her sisters and grandchildren and attending family athletic and special events.
In addition to raising a family, Dolly worked for several companies and enjoyed her job as a postal carrier where she served for 20 years before retiring. While at the post office, she was loved by her co-workers and people on her mail route. At work, she was known to treat everyone like family with her kindness and generosity, sharing flowers, food, recipes and help whenever needed.
Dolly is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Herman, Charles, Ralph, Pete and James, sisters Sue Dudley and Mary Kampe and daughter-in-law Tonya McBrayer Pike.
Dolly lived a wonderful, full life, and we take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and will forever be remembered by her friends & family. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law’s Joey & Kathy Pike, Kenny & Sherri Pike, Keith & Judy Pike and Chris & Debbie Pike, her sister Judy Haun, brother and sister-n-law Gene & Louise Jackson, sister-in-law’s Mary Elizabeth Jackson, Shirley Jackson, Jean Pike Stitt, Jackie Pike Howard, 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, as well as many cousins, nieces & nephews.
The family will hold a celebration of life service at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge funeral home in Kennesaw, GA November 28th. Visitation starts at 11:00AM with a service to follow at 2:00PM. If you are unable to attend the service, you can view the service here: https://www.facebook.com/170046609672412
