In 1947, Billy met Reba Liles while they were seniors in high school. On June 6, 1948, they became Mr. and Mrs. King and spent the next 70 loving years together before his passing. He served three years in the United States Army during the Korean War. In 1962, he obtained a degree at Woodrow Wilson College of Law.
Through life, Billy enjoyed being his own boss and owning his own company, King Claims Service. As a result of his strong work ethic, his company began to branch out to multiple other states and also led to work with Lloyd's of London, which resulted in his many visits to London. During the 1960's, Billy was ordained as a Deacon at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Marietta, and continued to serve as a Deacon for the next 50 years while a member at several different churches.
In 1992, he became a volunteer for the Bartow County Fire Department, Station #13 for the next 13 years. He enjoyed his work and loved to help establish fundraisers to gain the necessary supplies that were needed for the Fire Department. Billy has always aspired to retire and live on the lake. His dream became true and he enjoyed his time boating on Lake Allatoona where they lived.
He was a man of his word and was always known to be very dependable. He was a loving husband as well as a wonderful father, who will be deeply missed.
Billy is survived by his wife, Reba King; daughter Nancy Thompson; and daughter Linda (Jim) Ayers; grandson Joshua (Ally) Thompson. He was preceded in death by his father Leon King and mother Christine King; brother Robert King; brother Leon King and sister Octavia (Joe) Smith.
