Wilma passed away peacefully on October 9th, 2024 with her family.
She is survived by her husband Julius, children Diane (Stephen), Valerie (Charles), David (Cecilia), grandchildren Kaitlyn (Keegan), Jared (Dani), Jaclyn, Megan, and Natalie, and great grand-daughter Oakley. Wilma is predeceased by her parents Alex and Roza Chore and siblings Ernie, Alex, Thelma and Bill.
Wilma spent all 85 years of her life on the family farm in Ellison. The farm was a big part of her life, and she was proud to live in the farmhouse her father built in 1951. She often told stories of working on the farm before walking 2.7 kilometers to school.
She married her husband Julius in 1961. They lived in a small cabin on the family property until they purchased the farm later that year. Together, they planted their orchard which the family continues to farm to this day.
Wilma cared deeply for her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is most remembered for always putting the needs of others first, and for the care and attention she paid to her animals. She loved hosting family meals and received a lot of praise for her cooking, baking and canning. She also enjoyed spending time in her vegetable and flower gardens and visiting Hawaii and Disneyland.
The family would like to thank all the health care professionals that helped her manage her health challenges. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C & Yukon.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 1:00 PM at the Ellison Community Hall, 4411 Old Vernon Road.
