Born the youngest of six siblings in Chantry, Ontario, Lillian Hiebert passed away in her sleep at the age of 94 in Kelowna BC after celebrating New Year’s Eve in style. Predeceased by husbands Allan Gamey and David Hiebert, and most recently, her devoted CNIB companion Alice Mann. Survived by sister Marion Warren of Gananoque, Ontario, daughters Beverley Novak (Adam), Edmonton, Alberta, Carol Gamey (Bill Cochrane), Saanichton, BC, grandchildren Sean, Hilary and Alistair, and long-time friend and helpmate Ann Ormston of Kelowna. A World War II veteran, she served with the R.C.A.F. in London from 1942 to 1945. She had a great zest for life and cross-country skied and bicycled until her eyesight began to fail in her seventies. The family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Obedkoff for his superlative care and compassion and the staff and residents of the Dorchester Retirement Home, in particular Terese, Stacey, Judy, Krista, Joan, Debbie and Rufina for all they did to make her final years happy and comfortable. Service to be held upon internment in Ontario. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Dorchester Retirement Home on Monday, January 7th, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the CNIB.
