Jack Nicholas Mackay, 98yrs. Passed to his rest on Friday, September 3, 2010 at Sutherland Hills Rest Home, Kelowna, B.C. He was born in the Ukraine. He immigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada with his parents and his oldest sister Annie in 1912, and settled in the Macrorie area. He grew up on the family farm. As a young man, Jack worked with the harvest thrashing outfits that travelled from farm to farm harvesting the grains. One week Jack visited Swift Current and attended the church where Tena’s dad was the Pastor. Jack enjoyed the music and in particular the Violin player in the band by the name of Tena. He married Tena Stoakes on April 15, 1936. Jack’s career included, farming, logging, house building, well drilling, sales, including literature evangelist work for the Church, as well as other jobs. Tena and Jack took a trip around the world in 1967. They also spent close to twenty years as snow birds travelling to the Fountain of Youth in California. Jack is survived by his loving wife Tena of 74 years, daughters; Jackie Thibaudeau of Edmonton, A.B., and Darlene (Mike) Tohivsky of Walla Walla, Washington, along with fifteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, five great great grand children, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers; Michael and Bill, sister Rosella, daughters; Louise Blish, and Joyce Blish and son-in-laws; Gene Blish, Tony Thibaudeau and his grandson Todd Blish. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:15 P.M. on Saturday September 11, 2010 in the Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, B.C. Interment to follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2850 Dry Valley Rd., Kelowna, B.C. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made directly to the ADRA, Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1130 Springfield Rd., Kelowna, B.C.
