Frances was born in Carlisle, Cumbria, England and immigrated to Manitoba, Canada with her family at the age of three. She was the second youngest sibling to sisters Ellie (Mitchell), Maggie (Coleman), Annie (Corrigal), Edna (Cockerill), Freda (Poyser) and brother Bill Dayson. She attended school in Roblin, and Angus business college in Winnipeg.
Frances married Frank Bailes in 1955 and they built a farming operation near Bield, Manitoba. She would say that other employment that she held had equipped her with many life skills, including work in Roblin Hospital, in a law and insurance office, and later as a driving instructor. She had many interests and talents, including music, bee keeping, soap making, re-finishing wood furniture, upholstery, needlework, baking, travel, genealogy, and researching and staying in touch on her iPhone. She played a key role in the building of a Community Centre in Bield and was treasurer of the Roblin Flying Club for many years.
Frank and Frances retired to Lake Country, British Columbia, returning to the farm for planting and harvest for many years. Frances made many friends in BC and encouraged a spirit of community with neighbours. Both Frank and Frances committed many volunteer hours with involvement in Citizens on Patrol and the Winfield Lions Club. Helping friends and neighbours with any kind of work came naturally to them.
Frances was pre-deceased by all of her siblings and was the only Dayson to reach the age of 90. She was pre-deceased by her husband Frank in 2022. She is survived by their two children, Nancy and Greg, and her granddaughters Renee and Sara.
A small celebration of life will be held at a later date.
