It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Dolores Ann (Aurell) From, age 80, of Kelowna, British Columbia who passed away on December 14th, 2024 after a short bout of the flu complicated by pneumonia.
Dolores was born on May 28th, 1944 in Wadena, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her parents Ed & Doris Aurell and her husband Ron of 62 years, by three weeks. She is survived by her children Jan (Gerald) Dirksen, Loren (Carrie), Wes (Laurie); grandchildren Michael (Erica), Danielle (Nick) Birtwistle, Amy (Christophe) Pilloud, Haley (Bryan) Liu, Dustin (Danica), Shane (Hailey), and Austin (Alisha); great-grandchildren Taylor (Noah) Vandeburgt, Myah, Cohen, Caeden, Josanna, Noelle, Ginette, Nora, and Carson; brother Lester and numerous nephews and nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces, and others who called her “Grandma Do,” by affection.
Dolores grew up in Wadena and moved to Winnipeg when she was 11 years old. In 1971 she and her family moved to North Delta, and Kelowna in 1986. As a late teen she worked as a telephone operator and spent the remainder of her work life as a housewife, mother and bookkeeper. She successfully supported Ron when he owned and operated Rondale Coffee Services in North Delta, followed by Alpine Wilderness Retreat north of Kamloops and then Water Canada in Kelowna, and finally retired in 2007.
Dolores’ favourite past-times were people watching and listening to what was going on. She had way more ammo on you if you stepped out of line than you ever saw coming, but used such knowledge with love, tact and wisdom. If you caught her with such information, she would smile a sly smile but never say a word. Dolores also loved to play games with Ron, the kids and their spouses as well as extended family. Above all Dolores was a faithful loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She loved Ron deeply but Jesus even more.
She will be missed by many. Her remains were cremated and have been inurned at Lakeview Cemetery along with Ron’s. A celebration of life will be held in Kelowna at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Avenue on Friday,, December 20th, 2024 at 10:00 AM
