Bonnie Jones was born Bonnie Carol Booth in Rimbey Alberta on December 24, 1963, after a full day of Christmas shopping. It was soon apparent that Bonnie’s disposition was in keeping with the season. She was compassionate, empathetic, loving, creative, and spiritual, with a deep sense of caring for humanity, and a passion for shopping.
As a young child Bonnie’s artistic talent developed. She excelled in painting, sketching, and drama. However, her love of acrylic painting stood out and she displayed this amazing talent on decorative ceramics, as well as other mediums, throughout her adult life.
When Bonnie was a young girl she enjoyed Hula and Tahitian dancing with her sisters, which highlighted her soft and quiet demeanor and allowed her to express her love for beauty, creativity and music.
Bonnie had a love for animals and nature. She was skilled in horseback riding at a young age, and as a teenager was often seen riding in the hills of south Kelowna with her friends.
Bonnie graduated from Kelowna Secondary School in 1982 and married the love of her life, James Jones on June 22, 1985. They moved a short distance to Winfield BC in 1988 where they raised their two sons, Cory Robert and Jesse Earl. Bonnie’s affection for beauty, art, and everything feminine somehow eloquently accentuated the rough and tough masculine world of hunting, fishing, big trucks, and dirt. The marriage of Cory and Meaghynne in 2009 thrilled Bonnie and heightened her hopes of expanding the feminine influence in the family.
Bonnie took the role of Mother seriously and was very active in the boy’s lives. She was involved with the Parent Advisory Counsel, Coached Jesse’s baseball team for several years, belonged to the Kelowna Dirt Bike Club and was number one fan and cheerleader for Cory’s motocross racing.
Bonnie was very artistic and worked several jobs in the creative field such as Party planning and event designing. She was passionate about sharing her knowledge to others as a decorative art teacher, using her skills to design and implement her own art program.
In September 2007 Bonnie and Jamie moved to Edgewood BC to live out their dream in a quiet, country home in the middle of nature, and close to their summer home at Whatshan Lake. In the spring of 2005 Bonnie became the manager of Whatshan Lake Campground with Jamie’s “support”.
Bonnie had a fascination with history and the ancestry of her family and others as well. She began displaying this interest on a newly discovered talent of quilting, making several unique quilts and gifts for family and friends.
Bonnie designated herself as chief counselor and therapist to many (if not all) of her family and friends. She seen in us needs, talents, and shortcomings we didn’t know we had, but Bonnie soon told us of.
Bonnie was an exceptionally loving, kind, and talented daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunty, and best friend. The love of her family and friends, and her strong faith in God is a tribute to who she was. She is dearly remembered and sadly missed.
