Antonio (Tony) was born February 13,1966 in Vancouver, named after St. Antonio, he was raised as an only child in East Vancouver and graduated in 1984 from David Thompson Sec-ondary School where he excelled at rugby and soccer. Tony had plans on becoming an architect after graduation, but instead went to BCIT and took up hydraulics, ventilation and sheet metal. Tony worked long enough and with enough different companies that he became a journeyman, at the same time he was a volunteer fireman at Hall 5 with the Surrey Fire Dept. Work in the sheet metal industry became scarce, so Tony worked out of town as a part time Paramedic starting in Clinton, then Lillooet and then Pemberton, at the same time he started working as a scenic metal fabricator in the movie industry building movie sets for Stargate, Night at The Museum, I Robot, and X-Men. During this time he moved to Port Kells Surrey and was now vol-unteering at FireHall 7 where he was a Captain and retired after 17 plus yrs of service. In 2011 Tony accepted a reg, full time posting as a Primary Care IV Paramedic at Station 269 in Rich-mond with his partner Andre
Tony was extremely generous, humorous, modest, caring, a very laid back human being, that had a love for dogs and birds, he did not know how to say “NO” to anyone wanting his help. He made friends, good lifelong friends everywhere he went. He will be remembered for many things, but mostly for his giggle, shy smile and knee slapping sense of humour.
Tony had many hobbies and tried many activities. In his younger years he was part of The Boys and Girls club in Vancouver and always loved to share his stories about Camp Potlatch. He loved to be outdoors with nature, his outside hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, rock climbing, boating, barefoot skiing, down hill skiing, he was Dive Master scuba diver, played soccer and he represented Canada playing rugby, enjoyed motorcycling on his Harley Davidson Road King Classic as well as racing and showing his 1974 Datsun 260 Z . His inside hobbies included Take -Won -Do, P90X and Insanity workout programs. He was a jack of all trades, a real handyman.
Tony took control of his destiny and gave himself peace on August 31, 2018. He is deeply and sadly missed by his wife Robin, in-laws Bud and Sandy, brother-in-law Guy, family in Italy, and many lifelong friends as well as his brother and sisters from The Surrey Fire Dept., BCAS and IATSE. Also missing Tony are the fur babies Harley, Molly and Tasha and his feathered kids too.
Tony was predeceased by his father Giovanni, and his mother Rita Angela
