It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alma (Moe) Blennerhassett on December 9, 2024. Alma passed away peacefully with her beloved husband Barry of 39 years by her side after a short battle with cancer.
Alma was a great cook, she had won many awards in high school, she was an amazing gardener “Moe’s Garden” (fondly named) was like a gorgeous peaceful park that you loved to spend time in.
Alma loved to paint, her ocean scenery’s were her best, she was crafty always making adorable presents, ornaments, porch pots, reindeers just to name a few of the many she created.
When Barry and his brother Mark raced their VW Bugs on Ice, she was there biggest fan, always supporting them, in every adventure!
Alma loved to travel, Mexico (one of her favorites) as well as Thailand, Cuba, Bahamas, Wales, Hawaii and the USA. Spending time at their cabin on the Shuswap Lake was her escape for reality and gave her peace of mind and solace.
Alma was survived by her husband Barry, Son Shawn, grandchildren, Kayla, Linden, Alma and Katie. Sisters, Margaret Magri, Cathy (Mark) Hartwig and Ruth Malcolm, . Brothers Michael van der Est and Ken van der Est, brother-in-law Mark Blennerhassett, as well as many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces. Predeceased by her parents William and Catherine van der Est, Father in Law Len Blennerhassett, Son Andrew (at birth) Brother: Walter van der Est, Sister: Samara Michaels.
Celebration of her life will take place in the spring, as it was her favorite time of year.
