Patrick passed away on July 3, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born on October 23, 1944, to Edward Lee and Theora Louise Marshall. Because of his father’s job requirements and his own career, Patrick lived in 5 states and 15 cities. His experience in adjusting to new locations and groups of people honed his abilities to adapt to many challenges. He was outgoing and determined to be the best he could be at whatever he did.
Patrick had a successful business career working for major companies including Mobil Oil, NCR, and Shared Medical Systems and other private and publicly held corporations. He delighted in mentoring and developing people.
Patrick’s lifetime, personal passion was writing. He started writing poetry when he was about 12 years old, but his career always took priority. After retiring in 2011, he could focus on reading poetry and refining his skills. He won his first poetry award in 2012. Many more awards followed.
Patrick was active in the Denton Poets’ Assembly (DPA), The Poetry Society of Texas (PST), and The National Federation of State Poetry Societies. He served as Co-President as well as Vice President of DPA, President of the Keller Writers’ Association, and PST Board member serving two consecutive terms as Treasurer.
Patrick had a Christian upbringing but for many years had not followed His teachings. Desiring to put his life back into God’s hands, he was baptized again on February 18, 2024, at Keller church of Christ. He loved the Lord and studied the Bible to increase his understanding of the Word.
Patrick is survived by his wife Andrea Marshall, daughter Catherine Parsons, sister Brenda Sprayberry, niece Julie Rosewell, nephew Jeffrey Nicholson, sister-in-law Lesley Mason, nephew Lance Mason, and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A memorial service for Patrick will be held Friday, July 19, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Keller Church of Christ, 205 S Elm St, Keller, TX 76248.
