All the days the Lord ordained for our dear Eleanor Ruth Larson concluded on Thursday, October 17, 2024 in Grapevine, Texas, with her family surrounding her. A unique creation of God, she was 90 years old.
Eleanor was born to Paul H. And Edna (Guiser) Ford on October 9, 1934 in River Falls, Wisconsin, in the middle of her siblings: Marjorie, Paul W, Milton and Phyllis. She maintained the values which her parents lived; of God, church, family, hard work and education the entirety of her life. She attended one-room-school house until she went to public school in Hammond, Wisconsin. She played the violin, the piano and the trombone.
In the days in which we live it is hard to imagine that the family farm did not receive electricity nor indoor plumbing until after World War II. Eleanor loved to work hard on her many farm chores and the entirety of her life attacked every task or undertaking or opportunity vigorously.
Eleanor met Berkley Larson at her mother’s alma mater, River Falls State Teachers College. They married after her graduation on August 18, 1956 and enjoyed 68 years of marriage. Her every moment was consumed with care for him.
She loved traveling, sewing, reading, camping, talking to friends and teaching 3 year old preschoolers. She deeply loved her students and friends and was vigorously dedicated to each one her entire life, maintaining a long Christmas card list.
Berkley and Eleanor had three children and lived their married life in Wisconsin, Michigan, Montana, Minnesota, Texas and their beloved Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She accepted the LORD Jesus Christ at the age of 12 and led the family to faithfully attend church. Eleanor loved sewing, therefore her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were benefactors of countless unique garments, quilts, stuffed animals and counted-cross-stitch projects.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her grandson, James Anderlitch; her sister Marjorie and her brother Paul W. She is survived by her beloved husband, Berkley Larson; daughters Sally (Robert) Anderlitch and Nancy (Cary) Ditman of Keller, Texas; son Vince (Silke) Larson of Denver; brother Milton (Emily) Ford of Wisconsin; sister Phyllis Johnson of Michigan; granddaughters: Sarah (Robert) Upshaw; Berkley and Ursula Larson; grandsons Peter (Mercedes) Anderlitch; Adam and Zachary Thamel, as well as five great grandchildren, and a vast number of friends.
Eleanor’s life and passing reminds us of the uniqueness and opportunity of each person who vigorously breaths in this broken and beautiful creation and the unique and vigorous Living Eternal Savior Son of God Jesus Christ in Whom we entrust her now.
“Jesus says, ‘I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance…
But love Me as you did at first….And understand..I will give fruit from the Tree of Life in the paradise of God.” Revelation 2:2-7
