Her parents, Harold Littlefield and Verna L. (Walker) Bell, welcomed their daughter into the world on January 25, 1932, in South Boston, MA. Shirley’s family moved to Dorchester, MA when she was at an early age, and was a 1950 graduate of Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester.
A resident of the area since 1974, Shirley was a very successful and well-like advertising specialist with the WKBK Radio Station in Keene for thirty years.
Having a love for ballroom dancing, Shirley and her former husband, Robert Paulson, provided lessons to many at the Shirley Paulson Dance Studio for many years. She enjoyed reading and floral gardening in her spare time. She also enjoyed taking long walks, visiting museums, and vacationing, especially at the beach.
She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Ayotte of Pascoag, RI, Debbie Coolidge of Uxbridge, MA, three grandchildren, Sarah Tatro, Andrew C. Paulson, Karl Christ; four great-grandchildren, Mia Tatro, Maddie Tatro, Kameron Christ, Faith Christ; a daughter-in-law, Janice Paulson of Winchester, NH; her special friends who help her with providing ballroom dancing instructions to many, Guy and Vikki Caggiano of Plymouth, MA, Ruth Aluffi, of Kingston, MA; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Shirley was predeceased by her first husband, Robert E. Paulson on March 25, 1989; a daughter, Linda Paulson in 2003; a son, Robert E. "Bob" Paulson II, on February 12, 2023; two sons-in-law, George "Cookie" Coolidge in 2000, and Jean Ayotte in 2020; and two sisters, Doris Minkle and Lois Dawnis, predeceased her.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 23rd at 11:00am in the Foley Funeral Home. Burial will be in the spring in the Mountain View Cemetery, Swanzey, NH.
