She was born in Trenton NJ., Feb 7, 1935, the daughter of Meyer and Elizabeth (Bantic) Kaplan and had resided in Cincinnati Ohio and New Orleans prior to moving to Keene in 1961.
Mrs Cohen graduated from Trenton High School and went to the University of Delaware and then transferred to Boston University where she earned her BA degree in education in 1956.
She became a teacher and taught for a number of years in Ohio. When she came to Keene she worked as a receptionist for Kapiloff insurance until her retirement.
She was a member of the Congregation Ahavas Achim in Keene, and was a member of the Hebrew Ladies Aid Society at the synagogue. She was also a member of the Keene Women's club and the Cheshire County Medical Society Axillary.
Mrs Cohen is predeceased by her brothers Morton and Gerald Kaplan and is survived by her husband of 56 years Dr Arthur E Cohen of Keene, three sons: Steven G Cohen, Bruce E Cohen and his wife Pazit of Framingham Ma., and Daniel S Cohen of Keene; and one granddaughter Heather A Cohen of Spofford, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services for Mrs Cohen will take place Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Congregation Ahavis Achim, 84 Hastings Avenue, Keene. Friends are invited. The Rabbi Sarah Rubin will officiate. There are no public calling hours.
Burial will take place at the family lot in the Monadnock View Cemetery in West Keene.
It has requested in lieu of flowers, gifts be made in memory of Mrs Cohen to either the Congregation Ahavis Achim, 84 Hsatings Ave, or Home Healthcare Hospice, 312 Marlboro St Keene.
