Roy Karl Schlichting Sr.

Roy K. Schlichting Sr. 60, of West Chesterfield, NH, passed away at his home on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024, with his wife, Kathy by his side, following a two- month battle with Pancreatic cancer.

His parents, Joyce A. (Stanclift) and John K. Schlichting, welcomed their son into the world on October 24, 1964, in Keene, NH. Roy grew up in Spofford, NH and was a 1983 graduate of Keene High School.

Roy enjoyed renovating his home in West Chesterfield and using his time and talents assisting family and friends with their home renovations.

Roy was a loving and devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather. He loved spending summer days boating on Spofford Lake with his family, barbecuing on the patio, and cooking favorite family meals during the Holidays.

He recently participated in a Savage race in Massachusetts and enjoyed the challenge of preparing for that race. He looked forward to going for a run by Lake Spofford and enjoyed the group of guys on his team that he competed with.

Roy also loved His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a long-time attendee of Grace Community Church in Spofford. He especially enjoyed attending the men’s study group called “Brave Heart” on Tuesday nights. It was there that he forged many friendships as they shared life’s challenges together. One of his favorite Bible verses was Psalm 28:7 “The Lord is my Strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.”

Roy was currently employed as a Class A Driver for United Natural Foods in West Chesterfield. He enjoyed delivering various food products to his many customers in RI, CT, MA and throughout NH. He genuinely looked forward to seeing the many employees at these stores who became friends with him, and he enjoyed getting to know them. Roy also looked forward to visiting with the many drivers, warehouse workers and Supervisors at UNFI. He truly enjoyed the people there and many of them were like brothers or family to him.

He will be greatly missed by many, especially his wife of 38 years, Kathy; his three children, Jennifer Morello and her husband, Nate, Elizabeth Antini and her husband, Mark, and son Roy K. Schlichting, Jr; his five grandchildren, Bailey, Pennie & Chloe Morello, and Mason and Hunter Antini; his mother, Joyce A. Schlichting and her companion, Pete Southwell; a brother, David Schlichting and his wife, Jera; his sister-in-law, Kimberly Schlichting; a niece, Jessica Hom; a nephew, Joshua Schlichting; and also extended family on both sides. He was predeceased by his father, John, in 2014.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Grace Community Church, 49 Old Swanzey Road, in Spofford at 11:00 AM. All are welcome.
