Pauline A Loupa Smith

She was born in Marlborough, NH on April 12, 1915, the daughter of Ludwig and Alexsandra (Mantymaki) Loupa, and was a lifelong resident of Troy.

She married Albert J. Smith in a ceremony in Troy, NH, on November 6, 1933. They celebrated 52 years of marriage before his death in 1985.

Mrs. Smith worked as a housekeeper in Winchendon, Ma, and retired from Troy Mills as a Stitcher after 29 years of service.

Mrs. Smith was a lifelong member of the Troy Baptist Church. Before her passing, she was recognized as the longest attending member of the church. While a member, she served as Financial Secretary and also taught Sunday School for many years.

She and Albert tended a large garden at their home, and Mrs. Smith spent many summers gardening, and canning the year’s bounty. She also enjoyed going berry picking at local berry spots.

She is survived by her two sons: Calvin A. Smith and his wife Lorraine of Olmstead Falls, OH and Robert J. Smith and his wife Nancy of Keene a sister: Elizabeth Williams of Jaffrey, formerly of Troy; six grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband: Albert J. Smith; four brothers: Onni Loupa, Wilfred Loupa, Toivo Loupa and George Loupa; two sisters: Connie Koskela and Impi Williams; her daughter, Virginia Wesley and her granddaughter, Tricia Wesley, who both passed tragically in a car accident in 1989; as well as a grandson: Robert Mark Smith, who also died earlier.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 15 at 11:00 at the Fletcher Funeral Home. An hour of visitation will occur prior to the service, from 10:00 until 11:00. Burial will occur in the Spring at the Mountain View Cemetery in Troy.
