Her parents, Edgar and Celia (Para) Fregeau welcomed their daughter into the world on February 1, 1941, in Douglas, Mass. Norma grew up in Webster, Mass., graduating from Bartlett High School.
She graduated from UCONN and later worked as a dietician at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. Norma later worked with the AETNA Insurance Company in Windsor, CT for several years.
She and her husband, Robert, moved to Marlow in 1996 to enjoy the many wonders of the countryside.
She had a generous spirit, always putting her friends and family first, and had a genuine interest in the wellbeing of others.
Norma had a great love of the out-of-doors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and hiking. She loved to travel and to visit the ocean. She was a wonderful cook and her wonderful creations were enjoyed by many. She was also a die-hard Red Sox fan, watching any game that she could.
Norma will be greatly missed by many, especially her husband of 54 years, Robert E. "Mick" Shanahan of Marlow; her son, Charlie Shanahan and his wife, Brandy, of Acworth, NH; her daughter, Julie Field and her husband, Ryan, of Tolland, CT; her grandchildren, Sophie Field, Rebekah Shanahan and Sweet Emma Shanahan; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Robert Fregeau predeceased her.
The family would like to offer their immense gratitude for their neighbors, Rick and Liz Davis for their unconditional support and care for their parents Norma and Mick over the past few years.
A celebration of Norma’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. All are welcome to attend.
