She was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 2, 1926, the daughter of Clifford and Elizabeth (Watson) Perkins.
Margaret grew up in Keene and was a graduate of Keene High School. She was a 1956 graduate of Keene State College and earned a Master Degree in 1971 from Bowling Green State University. She was a member of Chi Omega and Delta Cappa Gamma.
Margaret’s life journey found her residing and raising her family in Keene, North Adams, MA, Apple Valley, CA, Bowling Green, OH, Westport, CT and retiring back to Keene, with her husband Hank, in 1989.
She was an elementary school teacher, teaching in Massachusetts, California and Connecticut, for over 20 years.
She enjoyed skiing, travel, playing bridge with her friends in Keene, summers at Sunapee and Spofford Lakes and the very special memories created with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her two children, Hank Bailey and his wife, Arlene of Altadena, CA, Peg Bailey of Stamford, CT and Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Jana Conroy and her husband Joe, Jeff Sedlacek, Laura Sedlacek, and Lauren Bailey; three great-grandchildren, Breanna, Ellie and Joseph Conroy; a son-in-law Ron Sedlacek of Lincoln, NE and several nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 53 years, Henry R. “Hank” Bailey, Jr, a son Jim Bailey, a daughter, Buffy Bailey Sedlacek and two brothers, Jim Perkins and Cliff Perkins.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 11:00AM in St. Margaret Mary Church, 33 Arch Street, Keene. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.
