She was born August 5, 1921, in Adamstown, PA, the daughter of David O. and Gertrude (Whitman) Witwer. She was a 1939 graduate of Shillington High School and went on to attend business school in Reading, PA. She was married to David B. Peters, II for 56 years until his death in 1998.
She devoted her life to the nurturing and care of her family. There was no greater joy in her life than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout her life, from childhood to elder years, she enjoyed communities that were closely woven. Her loving friends and companions at Bentley Commons became her extended family, and she was always happy to be going “home”. For nearly a decade she lived there and thrived: taking part in activities and building lasting relationships. Though her time was mostly filled with activity and interaction with others, she also enjoyed being in the quiet of her home. She was recognized by all to be a kind, honest, helpful, cheerful and compassionate woman. In the community, she was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Keene.
She is survived by her daughter: Kathy Groves and her husband Steven Groves of York, ME and Naples, FL, and a son: David Peters III and his wife Sandra Peters, of Surry, NH, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. She is predeceased by her husband and her sister, Christine Redcay.
Private memorial services and burial will be held by the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home Health Care Hospice and Community Services, PO Box 564, Keene, NH. 03431.
