She was born in Gardner, MA, April 06, 1936, the daughter of Spencer and Grace (Woods) Tandy. She grew up in Athol, Mass. graduating in 1954 from Athol High School.
Helen Draper completed her undergraduate work at Arizona State College and received a Masters Degree in Education from Northern Arizona State University.
She resided in Poughkeepsie, NY for many years where she was a science and special education teacher with the Poughkeepsie School District for twenty-four years.
A resident of Westmoreland for the past 25 years, Helen Draper was a member of the Westmoreland United Church.
Helen was a devoted P.E.O. sister. She held many posts through her 42 years and was very proud to serve as President of the North East District.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lloyd F. Draper of Westmoreland; her children, Dorothy Silberg of Saugerties, NY, Dianne Bukowski and her husband, Joseph, of East Brunswick, NJ, Wayne Draper and his wife, Suzanne, of Westmoreland, Tandy Goldstein and her husband, David, of Gilbertsville, PA; seven grandchildren, Dr. Aden Draper, Christopher Draper and his wife, Thy, Stephen Bukowski, Andrew Silberg, Hannah Silberg, Maya Goldstein and Erin Goldstein; and sister-in-law, Jean Tandy of Richmond. She was predeceased by a brother, Norman Tandy.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Westmoreland United Church, located at the town square in Westmoreland. Rev. Donna Gage, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot in the East Cemetery, Westmoreland. There are no public calling hours.
