She was born in Manchester, NH, April 16, 1912, the daughter of Edward C. and Catherine (Thornton) McCarthy. She grew up in Manchester, graduating in 1929 from Central High School.
She was a graduate of the former Keene Normal School, now Keene State College. She taught school for seven years in a one-room school house in Richmond, NH, encompassing grades one through eight. Because of rules in place for teachers at that time, she had to give up her teaching position when she married her husband, Bernard A. Noseck. However, an exception was made for her to continue teaching for one year following her marriage due to a shortage of teachers at that time.
Mrs. Noseck later worked for 25 years as a supervisor in the process inspection department with MPB Corporation in Keene. She was a parishioner of St. Bernard Church in Keene, and was an active member of the Altar Society.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara A. Gendron of Keene; two granddaughters, Suzanne Hodgkins and her husband, John, of Walpole, NH, Jennifer Fitzgerald and her husband, Roger, of Lecanto, FL; three great-grandchildren; Amanda Hodgkins, Maxwell Pierce, Emma Fitzgerald; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard A. Noseck; a son-in-law, Ernest Gendron; four brothers; and a sister.
A memorial mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 10:00 AM in St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street, Keene, NH. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. Noseck’s memory to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Parish of the Holy Spirit, 161 Main Street, Keene, NH 03431.
The Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
