Dana F. Navish, 64, born in Keene, NH, and a resident of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL, after a period of declining health.
He was born July 22, 1955, the oldest son of Floyd and Louise Navish (pre-deceased 2017 and 1990). He attended local schools and was a 1973 graduate of Keene High School where he was an avid athlete participating in multiple sports. His favorite sport was running Cross Country and track, where he received high achievements in racing.
Dana, a veteran US Navy 2nd Class Petty Officer, served as an aviation antisubmarine warfare technician, electronics technician, and aircrew member (1977-1982). He earned his associates degree in electrical mechanics from North Shore Community College in 1983. He studied electronics on an ongoing basis, earning various certificates.
Subsequent to the Navy and college, he worked as an independent radar technician in a radar design lab for fishing fleets in Gloucester, MA (1980-1984); as a senior electronic technician at Varian in Beverly, MA (1984 -1987), and followed that as a high tech sales engineer at Toshiba from 1989-1999. After relocating from New Hampshire to Florida in 1999, Dana dabbled in various jobs, and transitioned into technical construction, roofing, and restorations from 2002-2012.
Dana always had an appreciation and love for good music, and shared his favorites with great enthusiasm and influence. He loved researching and reading; always seeking knowledge on a range of topics, and was known to highlight his insights and philosophies with great detail. He is described by many and his circle of friends as positive, kind, gregarious, and funny; affectionately known for being long-winded in conversation, and generally a really nice guy.
He was loved and will be missed by many, especially his daughter, Danielle (Navish) Lorton and her husband, Matt, of West Palm Beach, FL; siblings Dale Navish and his wife, Meg, of Bend, OR, Debbie (Navish) Huntley and her husband, Brian, of Bluffton, SC, Dawn (Navish) Kiritsy and her husband, Stephen, of Hilton Head Island, SC; six nieces and nephews; former wife and mother to his daughter, Clarice Navish of Danvers, MA; and former wife and friend, Kim O’Dea of West Palm Beach, FL.
A graveside service with military honors in the Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Avenue, Keene will be held at a date and time to be announced.
