He and Rosemary were married for 31 wonderful years. They met and married in Baton Rouge, and moved to Houston, TX in 1994. Troy and Rosemary have a daughter, Shannon Nicole Burleigh and son Troy David Burleigh, Jr. He was a loving and patient father and husband, and loved very much.
He served our country in The United States Army as a 11M10 Fighting Vehicle Infantryman between 1985 to 1989 before he was honorably discharged. Most of his working career was spent in the Pest Control Industry. He loved serving his customers, rescuing baby racoons and getting covered in honey. He actually had a following each time he moved to another company. In our first year of marriage Troy shared with Rosemary that he was considering a career in law enforcement. However, she talked him out of it. He had the highest respect and honor for law enforcement, 1st Responders and all armed forces of military. He never passed up an opportunity to thank and pray for them.
The family began attending Tallowood Baptist Church (TBC) in 1997 and joined thereafter. TBC became a special part of their lives. TBC offered so many ways to use their gifts and talents for Jesus Christ. He surrendered his life to Jesus at age 12. On September 22, 2019, he was ordained as a deacon of Tallowood Baptist Church. This meant so much to him. Another avenue to serve the Lord.
In 2004, a friend and member of TBC invited him to a Christian Motorcyclist Association (CMA), chapter meeting for the Katy, TX, Highway Disciples Chapter. He never looked back. It took Rosemary a while to catch the fever. The Lord led her to join CMA in 2009. Troy was in his 9th year as Chapter President of the Highway Disciples. It was his passion and a calling from God. CMA and TBC became like family.
Another family came along a few years later, when Troy and Rosemary heard of TBC's efforts to support and meet the needs, along with many others, Montrose Street Reach. This is where Troy's passion for taking pictures took off. He never missed a Wednesday night unless it was necessary. He loved serving in this ministry where Montrose Street Reach, Youth with a Mission (YWAM) and Joe Williams Ministries came together to reach the often forgotten. Especially during the summer months when the YWAM groups would come from all over to visit and serve. He loved the youth, and loved taking pictures of them to show their loved ones they were fine and having the time of their lives serving the Lord Jesus Christ.
He was survived by his wife, Rosemary O. Burleigh of 31 years, son Troy David Burleigh, Jr., daughter Shannon Nicole Burleigh, mother Peggy O'rillion, and brothers Robby Burleigh and Teddy Smith who live in Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Burleigh.
A visitation for Troy David Burleigh, Sr. will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77494. A memorial service will occur Friday, February 26, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood Rd, Houston, TX 77024.
