Matthew Eric Ascencio

Eric’s love of music was a part of every single second of his life. His heart and personality drew people in like a magnet.

Eric was born to Wilfredo Ascencio and Lupe Ascencio on June 21, 1972 in Abilene, Texas. Eric graduated from Merkel High School in 1990 and moved to San Marcos to attend Southwest Texas University. He married Alyssa Sue Thompson in 1998. Eric graduated from college in 2000 with a degree in Business Management and continued his career with MCI.

He and his wife moved to the Houston area where he worked for MCI and eventually Verizon Wireless. He welcomed a daughter in 2006 and a son in 2011.

Eric bought a painting franchise in 2013 named Fresh Coat West Houston and met his business partner Yuri Lorenzsonn. In 2014, he began working for Platts and loved every single minute of it.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather and two beloved uncles.

He is survived by his two children, his wife, his parents and 3 siblings along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The service will be Saturday, January 31, 2015, 2:00PM, at Dignity Memorial-Katy Funeral Home 23350 Kingsland Boulevard, Katy, TX 77494. A small reception for family and friends will follow. At this time his family asks everyone for privacy at their home so that they may begin to heal.
