John Hampton Odell III

Dorothy Mae Odell. Married for 40 years to his beautiful wife Nancy Carol, he was a family man

through and through and dedicated his life to his family, children and grandchildren. He was

raised and spent most of his life living and working in El Paso Texas. A hard worker and an avid

volunteer for his children’s schools and community athletic programs. Retired life brought him

to Richmond Texas to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Some of his favorite times

were spent buried in a book or playing with his beloved canine companions. He loved the

outdoors and felt most at home among the tall pine trees of Ruidoso, NM. He was a storyteller

and everyone’s favorite voice to listen to. He is preceded in death by his parents John and

Dorothy Odell and his brother Michael Odell. He is survived by his wife Nancy Odell, three

children Ashley Cornelius( Reed Cornelius), John Odell IV and Lacey Odell(Makenzie Sanders),

and grandchildren Jack, Claire and Pierce Cornelius as well as siblings Gary Odell(Darla Odell),

Gayle Willingham(Dan Willingham), Brian Odell(Laura Hernandez-Odell) and Wendi Odell along

with many brother and sister in laws and several nieces and nephews. He passed peacefully at

home on November 27, 2024, surrounded by family after a courageous battle against

Leukemia. His loss is profound and we will all miss him dearly.
