 many to describe in detail. My favorites include thinking we were “big kids” when our moms took us to see ET at the movie theater. We sat by ourselves several rows (probably front row) in front of them. When ET “died,” we were inconsolable lost kids squalling and looking for our mommies in the dark theatre.
Other memories include: Being soooo excited to see each other running too fast to each other and banging heads as we ran to hug, the toy aisle at Target, HeMan and Barbie wedding – (despite the height difference) with Purple Panther walking Barbie down the aisle, building forts out of blankets in the living room while Aunt Kay did her “exercises,” fishing in the Bayou down the street, toy machine guns, GI Joe, cops and robbers, and of course Tony Hawk skateboarding.
As you see, not many of these memories are typical of a “little girl’s” childhood. But my memories are amazing and they are amazing because Danny was in them. I will forever consider my childhood a wonderful and nostalgic time of my life because I had Danny by my side.
Now let me tell you, having a cousin who was an Active Duty US Marine while I was attending college at Texas A&M was something to brag about. When he came to College Station to visit, it never went smoothly, as there was usually a cat-fight of sorts between my girlfriends which led to a dog-fight of sorts between their boyfriends! It didn’t go much differently at my wedding… I was in my 2nd year of nursing school, and, lets be honest, most of my classmates were girls. Well, as the night went on, it was apparent that my highschool single guy-friends were losing a hopeless battle to Danny, USMC. Call me crazy, but perhaps the open bar contributed to the good ol’ Galveston fist-fighting brawl that inevitably took place as the

Good morning – my name is Leigh Ann and YES, I am the little girl in about half of the slide show – that’s right, I said GIRL, despite some of the questionable haircuts. I am Danny’s 1st cousin - our moms are sisters who are 15 months apart and Danny and I are 16 months apart. As I look around the room, I am so happy to see how many people loved Danny throughout his life. His family and friends were what Danny loved most and it is apparent how much you all loved Danny.
Many of you knew Danny as an adult, but I would like to share a few things from Danny’s childhood as we celebrate his life today. As you can see, Danny and I probably have very few childhood memories that do not include each other. Danny is my 1st cousin, he was also my 1st friend and my 1st Best Friend. We grew up in a time, which our own kids would find foreign – we knew NOTHING about sunscreen, seatbelts, helmets/elbow pads or really even letting our parents know our general whereabouts during daylight. Our childhood was spent outdoors making friends, including tons of laughs, lots of dirt and simple childhood happiness.
Danny and I had a MISSION in life – and that was to annoy the ever-living hell out of every adult we came across. We took this mission very seriously. We created our own entertainment, usually at the expense of others. For example, my dear “MamMaw and PawPaw” – this was a sweet and slightly elderly couple who lived across the street from my parents. They were pure of heart and always welcomed our company. Danny and I decided to pay them a visit one afternoon… When PawPaw opened the front door after we rang the bell, Danny, in his best stunt-man impersonation, rolled down 4-5 cement stairs with as much arm flinging and extra rolls imaginable. Bless their hearts, they ran to the bottom of the porch stairs in terror just as Danny popped up to his feet with that “grin” we all know so well. This is one memory that make me cry laughing each time I tell it.
There are so many memories, too

Danny is my big brother with Sigma Chi.  He was always there when I needed him.  Over the years with family and life getting in the way; I did not stay in contact as I should have.  Danny made the effort time and time again to ensure we did not lose the relationship we developed in undergrad.  
I never saw him without a smile and he always had a hug for me whenever we met.  He is fair, honest, and I am a better person because of his impact on my life.  
We spoke regularly and he was always willing to listen.  Danny held me accountable for my actions and encouraged me to live up to the promise we made to ourselves, the fraternity, and to God.  Danny did not allow me to play the victim and held me accountable for my decisions.  He is a true friend who truly cares about what is best for me and not what was easy or agree to just agree.
I look forward to seeing him again and getting a “Danny” hug when I join the ethereal chapter.   Love you Danny boy!  In Hoc

When you were a baby Aunt Jan loved to hold you. You would straddle my big pregnant tummy and sit on  your soon to be born cousin, Leigh Ann.  When we were out anywhere people would stare at me like, "Girl, are you crazy having another baby with one on the way so soon?"   I couldn't wait to have my baby and you and Leigh Ann were always so close growing up. Those were fun times watching y'all together.  I love you.
