Damien Michael Niko was born Tuesday, November 14, 1978, to Ikahui Niko and Margaret Keight in Gardena, California. He was a football star in high school and earned a scholarship to Arizona State University, where he met his wife, Jenae Sonne, in 2001. Damien earned his Bachelor's of Interdisciplinary Studies in 2003. Damien and Jenae were married in Kauai, Hawaii, on Tuesday, June 1, 2004. Together they relocated from Arizona to the Houston, Texas area, in 2005. Damien and Jenae were blessed with 3 children: Kason Michael (10), Daylen Sonne (9), and Keilani Patricia (7). Damien became an officer of the West University Police Department in 2006, where he was promoted to Sergeant in 2009 and Captain in 2018. He earned his Master's degree in June 2020. Damien's family was his greatest joy and he loved nothing more than spending time with them. He cherished the time he spent cheering his children on as they participated in soccer matches, swim meets, football games and dance lessons. Damien was a hardworking, loyal, honorable man and will be dearly missed.
Damien was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Anthony David Niko. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Niko; his wife, Jenae Niko; and their three children, Kason, Daylen, and Keilani, as well numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 13, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 9950 Mason Road, Richmond, TX. The church will stream services for those who cannot be in attendance.
