It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clemencia Velez Serna, who left this world on November 12, 2024, at the age of 84. Born in Cali, Colombia, on December 21, 1939, Clemencia was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of everyone she encountered.
Clemencia was the devoted wife of her late and beloved husband, Hernando Serna, with whom she shared years of love and happiness. Together, they built a beautiful family. Clemencia was a loving mother to her son, and daughter Juan-Carlos Serna, and Maria Juliana Buckley, and a proud grandmother to Juliana Marie Buckley and Paulina Andrea Buckley. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones and always made time for meaningful connections.
She is also survived by her siblings—Armando, Jaime, Socorro, and Amparo—whom she shared a deep and loving bond with throughout her life. Clemencia valued her strong relationships with her brothers and sisters and carried their love and support with her every day.
Throughout her life, Clemencia had a passion for creativity and beauty. She enjoyed arts and crafts, floral design, home decor and was an avid cook, often hosting family gatherings that were filled with delicious meals, laughter, and warmth. Her home was a sanctuary for family and friends alike.
In addition to her family, Clemencia had a deep love for animals, particularly her beloved cats, Meow Meow, Mono, and Tigre. Her past pet, Kaiser, held a special place in her heart. She was also known for her unwavering kindness, as she was always quick to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to those in need.
A woman of strong faith, Clemencia was an active member of her church community and found joy in being with her many friends. Her social nature and ability to maintain long-lasting friendships were a testament to her loving and kind-hearted character.
Clemencia is survived by her son, Juan-Carlos Serna; her daughter. Maria Juliana Buckley; her grandchildren, Juliana Marie Buckley and Paulina Andrea Buckley; her siblings, Armando, Jaime, Socorro, and Amparo; and a wide circle of family and friends who will forever miss her warmth, laughter, and love.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be remembered for her love, grace, and the joy she brought into this world.
A celebration of life for Clemencia will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, KATY, TX 77494.
