William Lester Philyaw II, 96, passed away on January 18, 2018 in Shawnee, Kansas. He was born on June 17, 1921 in Guymon, Oklahoma, to William L. and Florence (Long) Philyaw.
William was a World War II Veteran and served in the Navy. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. William dedicated his life to art. William was employed by Hallmark from 1949 to 1980, where he fine-tuned his artistry skills. In his spare time he enjoyed learning about the civil war and discovering interesting facts. William was a amateur Archeologist, and a piper. He was constantly creating, whether it was a painting, a piece of jewelry or even a pet portrait, he always enjoyed making things for people. William could also be found making models.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William L. Philyaw and Florence (Long) Philyaw. He is survived by his son William Lester Philyaw, III.
He will be laid to rest in the Chapel of Hope, at Mount Moriah Cemetery South, Kansas City, Missouri.
