William L. Gillespie

William L. “Bill” Gillespie, 86, of KCMO passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, October 12, 2012. Funeral service will be Wednesday, October, 17, 2012 at 11:30a.m. at the McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The visitation will be from 10 to 11:30a.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Bill was born July 9, 1926 in Houston, MO to Robert and Margaret Gillespie. He was a member of the United States Army serving in World War II. Bill was also a member of the AFL-CIO for over 60 years. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his family and was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Cecilia. He is survived by their children, Sharon Boswell (Gene), Dennis Gillespie (Phyllis), Bob Gillespie (Jeanette), Bill Gillespie, Patricia Pyle, Mary Engler (Steve); one brother, Curt Gillespie (Hughlene); two sisters, Betty Gillespie, Ottavia Ludwick; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, one great great grandson; and his loving and devoted partner of 36 years, Dianna Miller and her two children, Teri Batcheller and Rod Miller (Christine), one granddaughter and one grandson.
