Van served from 1968-1976 in the US Army and served three tours in Vietnam. After serving in the military, he became a mechanic, which was his career until he retired.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Van and Ouida; and his son, Marvin Wright.
Van is survived by his wife, Maryann; daughters, Alexandria Wright of Warsaw, MO and Angela McClelland of Ottawa, KS; sons, Bob McClelland of Olathe, KS and George McClelland of Inverness, FL; brother, Dwayne Beard of Crossett, AR; sister, Jean Wilson of Lewisville, AR; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, August 5, at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133.
