Theresa Marie (Saladino) Moylan, 93, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on September 1, 2020, while surrounded by her family. She was born on August 19, 1927, in Kansas City, MO to Joseph and Caroline (LaPoma) Saladino. She attended Karnes School, Glennon High School, and Mount St. Scholastica College for Women. Her work career began while in high school at Kresge 5 & 10. After college, she worked at the US Army Effects Bureau writing letters to the loved ones of deceased World War II soldiers. When the war ended, she took a job at the newly established Social Security Administration. There, she formed lifelong friendships that serendipitously brought her together with her future husband, Raymond V. Moylan. She married Ray on September 3, 1955 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Theresa paused her work career to raise her four children, but later returned to work at the Internal Revenue Service where she eventually retired.
Throughout her life, Theresa was most devoted to her large family. Sunday dinners were the highlight of her week, with no shortage of great food and lively conversation. Theresa was both artistic and creative, channeling her talents into teaching ceramics classes from her basement, and painting later in life. She enjoyed social activities like playing bridge and poker with friends, bowling with her league, and morning coffee with neighbors. Theresa’s love for reading was also noteworthy; her collection of books spilled off the shelves. Visiting friends and family couldn’t leave without a stack of books. Her generosity was true. Grandkids loved shopping with Grandma because they would hear “Do you like that? I’ll get it for you, Bay”.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Chuck (wife Melinda, children Patrick, Alan, Kevin, Connor); Joe (children Garett, Erin); Patty (husband Peter, children Kelli, Jill); Laura (husband John, children Madison, Danny, Lucy); as well as her two siblings Charles Saladino (wife Madeline), Rosalee Richmond; and many nieces, a nephew, cousins, and 7 great grandchildren. Theresa is reunited with her husband, Raymond.
Theresa had a positive outlook on life and was ready with a bright smile no matter what challenges she faced. Everyone who remembers Theresa is asked to celebrate her life and enjoy a margarita. Services will be on Thursday, September 10, at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 130 NW Murray Road, Lee’s Summit, MO. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial services at Mt. Olivet Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church.
