Susan "Sue" Lee Robinson, age 77, of Independence, Missouri passed away on Monday, September 9th, 2024, at home. She was born April 12,1947, in Ponca City, OK and raised by loving parents Virginia and Harold Hopkins.
Susan, a 1965 graduate of Truman High School, attended UMKC before marrying the love of her life, Thomas Lee Robinson, on May 21, 1966, in Independence, MO. Their love story, which began when they met at a party as teenagers, spanned over 56 years of unwavering devotion. Together, Tom and Sue lived in South Carolina and San Diego during Tom’s military service before returning to Missouri to build their family.
Sue's professional journey included working in the front office of the Kansas City Royals and later transitioning to the Independence school district, where she eventually retired to spend more time with her beloved grandchildren.
Sue’s greatest joy in life was her family. Her world revolved around her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As the best Nanny, she was always present at her grandkids' events and created cherished memories through countless sleepovers and movie nights. Over the years, Sue found happiness in traveling with Tom, scrapbooking, camping, family reunions in Branson, and enjoying her favorite fountain cokes. Everyone knew a visit to Sue’s house was not complete without bringing her one.
Known for her kindness, sense of humor, and generosity, Sue was able to laugh at herself and find the humor in everyday moments, brightening the mood of any room. Sue would open her home to anyone and was the first to help those in need. Everyone who visited or stayed with Tom and Susie, felt the warmth, laughter, and love that filled their home and instantly felt like part of the family. Raising four kids could be challenging for most, but Sue was able to make it seem effortless through her endless patience and calming presence. She was always the voice of reason and able to lend her perspective to provide advice and be the sounding board that we all needed.
Susie’s life was a testament to love, family, and kindness. Her warmth and spirit touched countless lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Left behind to cherish Susan’s memory are her children Jeff (Kate) Robinson, John (Nicki) Robinson, Jeremy Robinson and Jana (David) Brown; grandchildren Jason (Shelly) Robinson, Cody Robinson, Tyler Robinson, Zach Robinson, Sophia Robinson, Lincoln, Emmy and Elle Brown, Elli (Ryland) Sims, and great-grandchildren Ellis Robinson, Emery, John, and Cora Sims, and bonus grandchild Nevaeh Nichols, sister Connie (David) Caviness, brothers Chris (Lynda) Hopkins and Bob (Nancy) Hopkins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
