Susan was born on May 30, 1957, in New York, New York, to Edward and Vera Kay Kilgore. Her father was a pilot for TWA airlines, and her family lived in various locations throughout the world, including Boston, St. John's, Newfoundland, Long Island, and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. They returned to the Kansas City area in 1964.
While attending Shawnee Mission West High School, Susan met her husband, Keith. They were married in August 1980 and had three children: Edward (42), Emily (36), and Eliot (34). Susan was a devoted mother and grandmother to her grandchildren.
Susan was known for her eclectic taste in music and hobbies. She was always learning something new and could often be found sewing quilts for her grandchildren, constructing stained glass windows, gardening, operating a HAM radio, or reading a good book. She was a truly unique and remarkable woman.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Vera Katherine Kilgore, and her brother, Robert Kilgore. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Keith; her sons, Edward and Eliot; her daughter, Emily; and thirteen grandchildren.
A Visitation and Mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, Kansas, on Wednesday, December 13, beginning at 9:30 am and burial at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, MO at 10:30 am. Please join family and friends for a celebration of Susan’s life following all services.
