Sue Feaster, 77, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away March 17, 2023. Sue was born April 11, 1945 to Wendell and Nellie ‘Flossine’ Jones, and spent her early years in in Denver, CO. Sue moved to Prairie Village, KS as a teen/young girl and was a resident of Raytown, MO and Lee’s Summit, MO for most of her adult life.
Sue was a 1963 graduate of Shawnee Mission West High School and a 1967 graduate of Baker University where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Sue received a degree in education and served as a ZTA representative to the Greater Kansas City Panhellenic. She began her teaching career at Irvin Junior High School in the Hickman Mills School District from 1967-1971. She spent the following 15 years raising her two children (Todd and Michelle) before going back to teaching in 1986. Sue taught elementary art in the Kansas City Missouri School District from 1986 to her retirement in 2005. During this time she taught at Greenwood Elementary and Satchel Paige schools.
Sue was an active member of the ReDiscover Mental Health volunteer group serving as past president. She was a member of One Spirit United Methodist Church (serving as Pastor Parish Chair) and most recently an active member of Woods Chapel United Methodist Church. Sue spent the last several years very involved with various social groups including multiple book clubs, theater groups, Sunday school class, and P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) where she served as past President.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Michael “Coach” Feaster. Survivors include two children, Hunter “Todd” Feaster of Kennett Square, PA and Michelle (Michael) Powell of Lee’s Summit, MO, three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Michael “Dylan” and Macie and one great-grandson, Everett of Lee’s Summit, MO.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 23rd, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, 4725 NE Lakewood Way, Lee’s Summit, MO 64064 followed by a celebration of life from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chapter KH, P.E.O. c/o Gail Abauer, President – 22604 Cole Court Peculiar, MO 64078.
