He was born in Council Grove, Kansas and graduated from Westport and Missouri Valley College, Marshall, Missouri where he met his beautiful future wife Barbara.
He served in the U.S. Marines in WWII and the Korean Conflict, being discharged a 1st Lieutenant. Sam spent 19 years in public school education as a teacher, coach and school administrator until becoming a commercial realtor. He retired in 1995 and moved to Arizona with his beautiful bride, Barbara of 61 years before her passing in 2010.
Sam is survived by his two sons, Bob and Mike, a grandson Robert II and twin granddaughters Ashley O’Donnel and Amanda Dier. He was preceded in death by his daughter Wendy.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 12:30pm on Friday, April 13 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
