Ruth Anne Welty

Ruth Anne Welty, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away on October 2, 2024. She was born on June 3, 1951 and was raised in the Kansas City area. She later moved to Florida in the 1980s, where she embraced the sunshine and warmth until returning home to Kansas City in the 1990s.

A true nurturer at heart, Ruth was known for her love of cooking and sharing recipes with friends and family. Her kitchen was always open, and she found joy in gathering loved ones around the table, filling both hearts and stomachs with love. She lived life to the fullest and had a blast doing it, bringing laughter and light to everyone she met.

She was a mom and grandma to everyone, offering her kindness and warmth to all who knew her. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply. Ruth spent her life making memories with them, passing down family traditions, recipes, and endless love.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her spirit and zest for life will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Sarah Read.

She is survived by her husband, Pat Welty; son, David Bilyeu; daughter, Kristen Polk; and 6 grandkids.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 15 from 1:00-3:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO.
