Ruth was born on May 24, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri, the only child of John J. and Elda Fern (Turk) Huebner. She graduated from Central High School. Ruth met Jerry L. Runyan while riding the street car in Kansas City, Missouri and they married in 1949.
The couple enjoyed 69 years of marriage until Jerry's passing in 2018. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Prairie Village for over 65 years, where she sang in the choir for many years. Ruth was a stenographer and typist employed at Midwest Research Institute for two years but her main career was homemaker and mother to her two sons.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Jerry L. Runyan and her son John D. Runyan. She is survived by her son Dennis (Jennifer) Runyan of Garnett, Kansas, daughter-in-law Regena (Dave) McCoy of Kearney, Missouri, five grandchildren Shawn (Missy) Runyan, Jennifer (Esteban) Gutierrez, Jason (Jennifer) Runyan, Dana (Geoff) Maples, Kerrie See and numerous great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren.
A Drive-thru Visitation will take place from 2:00pm to 2:45pm, Saturday, February 6, through the south portico at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. A Private Family Service will be held at 3:00pm. This will be livestreamed on the Mount Moriah Facebook Page.
