Ruth was born July 2, 1942, in Lindsborg, Kansas. She graduated from Kansas City’s Southwest High School in 1960 and married her husband Mike in 1962. She received her certificate as a Certified Dental Assistant in 1969. Throughout her life Ruth used her talents, working not only as a dental assistant for many practices over the years, but also as an entrepreneur and owner of The Paper Dolls, a professional wallpaper hanging business. She was also a private art teacher. She enjoyed working with her father, a general contractor, by painting and wallpapering.
She and Mike moved from Overland Park, KS to their country home in Louisburg, KS in 1975 where they raised their two sons. Ruth loved her flower gardens that were filled with her favorite roses, columbine, tulips and so many other colorful flowers. Her husband and sons helped create a beautiful backyard oasis that was loved not only for its beauty but the peaceful place it was. Ruth also loved to watch the birds that were attracted to the many bird feeders she kept for cardinals, finches and hummingbirds. She would sit on the patio and watch an amazing number of birds at the feeders, look at the flowers and enjoy the outdoors with her family.
She was devoted to her family. One of her greatest joys was hosting gatherings for any occasion where she would cook a huge meal and loved spending time enjoying it with her family and friends. During Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays she would bake half a dozen pies along with a variety of different holiday goodies. When her baking was complete, she created beautiful trays of all the cookies, candy and treats. These trays were shared with friends and neighbors each year. Her family enjoyed the once a year treats all the way through the new year celebration. Holidays were always special for Ruth, and she enjoyed decorating her home to make the whole house reflect each one, but she went all out for Christmas, which created lasting memories for her family to enjoy.
She had a lifelong passion for art; throughout her life she would use her talent to make beautiful oil paintings, pastel and chalk drawings. She was often commissioned to make portraits. In the 1980’s she created the Wildcat logo of the Louisburg High School mascot and painted it on the gymnasium floor. She then made stained glass copies and sold them to Wildcat fans. Her artwork was well known in the Louisburg area and can still be found on display in homes and businesses. Her family has many of her treasured paintings in their homes.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Loweta R. Stewart (Seabough), brothers Larry and Ronald Stewart, husband Mike, and son David. She is survived by her twin brother Ralph Stewart, sister Carol Myers, son Michael Boles and wife Julie, daughter-in-law Leisa Boles, grandchildren Ashley and Allison Boles along with nieces and nephews.
