Ronald "Ron" Foley passed away peacefully at home on July 2nd, 2022. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with his characteristic good humor and smile. Despite the pain, Ron came out a hero and was often described as a "medical miracle" by his doctors and a "tough old coot" by his family and friends.
As a child, Ron lived his early years with his grandparents Alice and Tiny Foley in Ephrata, Washington. He later moved to the family farm in Stanberry, Missouri with his mother and stepfather Ethel and Robert Mastin. Ron loved to grow things and always had a garden full of vegetables. Even though he didn't eat much of what he grew, everyone else looked forward to the amazing produce. Ron moved to Kansas City where he worked for over 38 years at the Ford Assembly plant. He also served 38 years as an Air Force Reservist retiring at the top of the enlisted ranks as a Chief Master Sergeant.
Ron met the love of his life, Susan, while they both served in the Air Force. They would both admit it wasn't love at first sight, but as they grew to know each other and they quickly realized they were meant to be together. Ron was preceded in death by his daughter Theresa Anderson (Wendell) and survived by Todd (Mary) and Kellee (Alissa) Foley. Ron's pride and joy were his grandchildren, Dustin, Alexandra, Joshua, Hunter and Julie.
Ron will be honored by a military funeral at 11:00 AM, October 1st, 2022, at Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. A short reception will follow the funeral to celebrate Ron's life and accomplishments. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
