It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rodney James Taylor, Jr., on May 9, 2024, following a courageous battle with Crohn's Disease. Rodney's departure from this world leaves a profound void, but his memory will forever remain a beacon of love and light.
Born on November 14, 1983, Rodney brought joy and laughter into the world from his earliest days. He was the beloved son of Rodney Taylor, Sr., and Paula Collins. Raised with love and guidance by his step-father, Drector A. Collins Jr., Rodney grew into a man known for his unwavering compassion and infectious smile.
Rodney, a graduate of Raytown South High School Class of 2002, discovered his passion for finance and investing. His journey led him to thrive in various roles in the finance industry. Most recently, he found success as a Compliance Consultant, leveraging his expertise at Avantax.
In 2003, Rodney and Jessica Taylor began their journey as soulmates. Over the course of 20 years, their bond deepened through love, mutual respect, and unwavering support. Their relationship served as a beacon of strength and commitment, culminating in their marriage in 2011.
Rodney, a man of many passions whose vibrant spirit enriched the lives of those around him. An avid photographer, traveler, and music enthusiast, he danced through life with a song in his heart and a camera in hand. Rodney's love for gaming, singing, and his feline companions bringing warmth to his days. And as a dedicated supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs, his spirit soared with each game, united in passionate loyalty with fellow fans.
Rodney will always be remembered for his kindness and compassion, with a constant smile gracing his face. He had a rare gift for making others feel seen, heard, and valued. His boundless generosity and deep empathy touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rodney was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clara M. Williams (Gee Gee) and John T. Williams Sr., as well as his fraternal grandparents, Regina St. Jean and Drector A. Collins Sr., Dorothy V. Murray, and Curtis C. Murray Jr. Additionally, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Michael Schleicher, his aunt, Terrie E. Williams, and two of his brothers, Rodte J. Taylor and Rashad J. Taylor.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Jessica L. Taylor; his mother, Paula E. Collins; his father, Drector A. Collins Jr. (Susan); his biological father, Rodney J. Taylor Sr. (Kumari); and his mother-in-law, Diane Schleicher. He is also survived by his sister, Ericka Porter (Aarron), and his brothers, Drector A. Collins III, Jordan S. Taylor, Tyson X. Taylor, and Brandon B. Williams, as well as his brother-in-law, Michael Schleicher (Renee), and sister-in-law, Melissa Schleicher. Rodney is also survived by his cherished niece, Peyton Collins, and his nephews, Mason Hills, Carter Schleicher, Chance Schleicher, and Kameron Porter.
Additionally, Rodney leaves behind his five beloved cats: Honey, Cannoli, Mac, Lil' Mama, and Fifi.
Rodney leaves behind a host of friends and family whom he loved and admired deeply.
A visitation will be held from 9-10 AM, service at 10 AM, on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO. Entombment will occur immediately following at Floral Hills Cemetery.
