Roberta “Bobby” A. Work, 93, of Leawood, KS passed away February 6, 2016. A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. followed by funeral services at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
Bobby was born in 1922, the only child of Morris and Roberta Hunter. She graduated from Westport High School in 1939 and attended K.C. Junior college. During WWII, she was employed as a secretary and volunteered many hours for the Red Cross. She married the love of her life, John D. Work in 1946. From 1951-1972, she worked in the executive offices of the Katz Drug company. Bobby and John loved to travel, dance, dine and spent many winters enjoying Florida until his death in 1990.
Bobby was fond of music, dancing and had a passion for politics. She was an avid sports fan including baseball, particularly the Royals and Cardinals, football, basketball and golf. She was a long time member of the Village Presbyterian church.
Bobby was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, cousins Max J. and Josephine Weisman and Betty Jo Mardiat. She is survived by Cousins Julie and Clint Johnson and family, Ed Mardiat and family and dear friends Claudia and Bill Mathis.
